Request: FTP client that works as a harddrive?

Post by Gnolen »

Hi,

I am tired of uploading via ftp after changing and testing phpwcms files. I just want to do ctrl and s in my editor as we normally do when we save on the harddrive.

Does anyone know any FTP-client that installs an virtual drive so I could save to the webserver as normal? Without having to ftp and stuff?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Cool man!!

I didn't thought windows had this, I always forget to look in Windows before I look for different programs.

But I set up a ftp account but I still can't open and save files from within the editor. If I try to open a file it is read-only. Is there a way to change this? I can't see any properties to change for these ftp-servers.

Thanks for pointing at the right direction!!!

OK

this is difficult in Win XP I think to set the Permissions in Windows correct for the FTP-Access - but was just so an Idee

btw with wich Editor are you working?

I'm using Dreamweaver and UltraEdit and both can work remote :D

Just a slow Imac 400mzh. They are so cheap now so it it great to have to check websites on.

I am now trying out Webdriver for a ftp harddrive and it works great!

I've been told this commercial package is good, but have not tried it:

Thanks Karla,

I found it too and I am using it right now...And it works great! Just so nice to save directly to the 'harddrive'! I would recommend using for everyone.
