powered by... can be removed?

Does phpwcms license requires that a copyright note, or powered by text link be shown in the footer of its pages after installation? or are we allowed to remove it without violating the license?

No. There is a copyright notice on top of index.php's source code but not visible to normal website users. Where is the problem? Your customers.
